DIAGNOSTIC
CHECKLIST
These are the basic guidelines in diagnosing a suspected faulty Dastek Power X-Connect product (Plug & Play)
Vehichle cranks but doesn’t start
- Use diagnostic tool and look for any fault codes present in ecu, record any codes as they will be usefull later to determine the problem.
- Look for any visible problem with all connections to and from ecu and plug & play harness.
- Inspect the Unichip and Driver module connecters and terminals for pulled wires, opened up terminals and water marks.
- Look for bent pins on vehicle ecu and plug and play side. It does sometimes happen when not alligned before securing the latches.
- With the plug & play harness still connected, using bridge plugs bridge out Unichip and Driver Modules if any.
- If vehicle still fails to start the plug & play harness most certainly has a fault if above steps were taken care of.
- If vehicle starts and runs normal you certainly don’t have a plug & play harness issue.
Checking for a faulty Unichip or Driver module after plug & play harness test okay
- With plug & play harness still connected, using a bridge plug first ONLY bridge out the DRIVER module and try starting the vehicle.
- If vehicle starts and runs normal you could have a bad Driver module.
- If vehicle fails to start with Driver module bridged you could have a faulty Unichip.
- Try using another Unichip and/or Driver module and download start up maps from Unichip Dealer Portal for testing.
- Contact Dastek Power to assist in re-loading the relevant maps back to Unichip once above steps have been taken care of.
Intermittend faults/Drivability issues/Engine light coming on
- Use diagnostic tool and look for any fault codes present in ecu, record any codes as they will be usefull later to determine the problem.
- With plug & play harness still connected select mapset 2 (Standard Mode) and drive the vehicle to see if problem persists.
- If vehicle is fine in mapset 2 (Standard Mode) you have a mapping issue. (Contact Dastek Power)
- If the problem persists in mapset 2 (Standard Mode) there could be a problem with the vehicle and not the plug & play system fitted.
On Diesel vehicles ALWAYS start with a diagnostic tool to read injector trims and look for any DTC’s stored in ecu before fitting
Unichip and/or plug & play system. DO NOT FIT ANY PRODUCT TO VEHICLE WITH BAD INJECTORS.
